Aviation Science Degree

Some Information On The Different Types Of Careers Open To Aviation Science Degree Students After Graduation.

There are several career options open to those holding an aviation science degree, including air traffic controller and flight dispatcher, and these are all careers that offer attractive income levels and years worth of job security. Apart from air traffic controllers and flight dispatchers, those with aviation science degrees could choose to specialize as aircraft maintenance technicians, or they could concentrate on aviation-related design and research. Possibly the most popular career for those who have elected to graduate with an aviation science degree, however, is that of pilot, and job opportunities for pilots can be found in both the private and public sectors.

Aviation science degrees are available at various levels - from the low level associates degree to the intermediate bachelors degree to the higher level masters degree - and students will become familiar with concepts such as airport operations and aviation law. Also on the list of courses and subjects taught as part of the average aviation science degree would be crew management, cockpit design and aviation communication technology. Some of the schools offering aviation science degrees also include in their subject list practical training in the form of flight simulations as well as actual flight training, and, in this way, students gain a firm grasp on both the practical and the theoretical aspects of the discipline.

Other schools will streamline their aviation science degree programs according to specific criteria, and it's not unusual to find schools offering, for instance, degrees in the military pilot specialty, the airline pilot specialty and the commercial pilot specialty. When it comes time for an aviation science degree graduate to look for a job, some schools will also offer a comprehensive service aimed specifically at increasing the graduate's job market attractiveness. Some of the services offered in this regard include drafting sample resume covering letters, providing a listing of current job listings and making aviation company profile information available.
